Welcome to the Cangive Shopping Network where consumer power makes a difference every day!

Press Release

Ontario, November 20, 2001 National philanthropic Web site enables shoppers to support Canadian causes by shopping on-line.

With the holiday season just around the corner, why not shop at a new Canadian shopping portal and give twice?

In addition to helping shoppers locate popular merchants, Cangive.ca is designed to raise funds for Canadian Registered Charities and K-12 schools. Its online technology enables shoppers to support their favourite cause simply by shopping online.

Items purchased through Cangive.ca are the same price as if they were purchased directly from the merchant's online store, but up to 15% of the purchase price will support the cause of the shopper's choice.

Disease research and treatments, amateur athletes, places of worship, schools, and shelters - the choice is yours.

"Using our site is free. It takes only moments to shop through Cangive.ca and it can make a difference that can last a lifetime," said Craig MacKinnon, founder and president of Cangive.ca.

"The key here is teamwork. Even if individuals make just a single purchase through Cangive.ca each year, collectively, Canadian online shoppers can have a tremendous impact," he said.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada (MDAC) is "pleased and honoured" to be the first charity participating in Cangive.ca. "It is a new and very convenient way for persons who shop on the internet to provide valuable financial support to participating charities," said George Henderson, National Manager of Communications and Fire Fighter Relations, Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada.

"As an awareness and education tool we know our presence on Cangive.ca will enhance our ability to present our mission and programs to many more potential supporters. We look forward to working with Cangive.ca to make our friends and donors aware of this new vehicle to directly assist MDAC."

Cangive.ca has several leading online stores available to shoppers 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including Canadian Tire, Chapters-Indigo, Eddie Bauer, Amazon.ca, Sportmart and Martha Stewart to name a few. More merchants will be added to the shopping portal throughout 2002.

In addition, Cangive.ca has introduced several services to their shopping portal such as those offered by Expedia.ca. Shoppers can now book flights and hotels, as well as rent automobiles, all the while raising money for their cause.

There are several gift-giving occasions throughout the year and with holiday season just around the corner, it simply makes sense to shop at Cangive.ca.
