- Is there a fee for
me to participate in the Cangive.ca fundraising program?
No, whether you register and become a
Cangive.ca member or if you shop as a guest, using our site is absolutely
free. There are no hidden costs for you or the cause that you would
like to support.
- Will I pay the same
price for items when shopping through Cangive.ca as I would if I purchased
items directly at the merchant's web site?
Yes, you pay the exact same price that
you would pay if you shopped with the merchant directly.
- Is there a fee for
my cause to participate in the Cangive.ca fundraising program?
No, it is free for your cause to participate
in the Cangive.ca program.
- Is my membership
with Cangive.ca private?
Yes. If you choose to register with Cangive.ca
your personal information will be protected. We will not sell your
information to any third parties without your permission.
You will notice that we ask shoppers to indicate from which province
they are shopping. We use this information strictly on an aggregate
basis to assist larger charities in determining how to distribute
their Cangive.ca funds. For more information on our privacy and
security measures, please read our "Privacy Policy".
- Do I have to register
with Cangive.ca in order to earn money for the cause of my choice?
No. You do not need to register with
Cangive.ca to support a cause. If you shop as a guest, and select
a cause to support, the earnings that you generate will go directly
to your cause. If you shop as a guest and do not choose a cause,
the earning generated from your purchases will go into the Cangive
Fund, which is usually divided among our larger charities and sometimes
used for special fundraising needs. However, if you shop at the Cangive Gift Card Shop, you will need to register with Cangive so we can fulfill your order.
- Is shopping through
Cangive.ca secure?
Yes. Each link from our shopping mall
connects you to one of our participating online merchants. Your
shopping transaction will occur be between you and the merchant.
All of the merchants in our shopping portal are reputable and have
safe and secure shopping technology.
- How do I find a cause
to support with my online shopping?
You can select the cause that you want
to support in two main locations.
Becoming a Cangive Member
If you decide to register with Cangive.ca,
you will click on the "Become a Member" button on the "Shopping
Mall / "Home" page. You will then be guided through the registration
process, which will include making your cause selection. You can
choose from a list of popular causes or do a search to find a specific
cause. You can choose to login from the Cangive homepage or request,
while signing in, you wish us to remember your cause automatically.
Shopping as a guest
If you decide to shop as a guest, you
will click on the 'Shop as a guest' button located on he Cangive
homepage. You will then be guided to a page where you can make your
cause selection. You can choose from a list of popular causes or
do a search to find a specific cause.
We have several causes from which you
can choose. You can view more information about a cause by clicking
in "More Info" beside the name of a cause. In addition,
you will find a random featured cause featured on the Cangive homepage,
under the shopping categories. These causes will rotate in order
to increase awareness for various participating causes.
- How can I keep track
of my Cangive.ca purchases and how much I have helped raise for my
cause?
Cangive.ca has provided a 'Your Account'
button for registered members. If you are signed in and click on
this button, you will be able to view details about your account
including what items you have purchased and the total funds that
you have generated for your cause.
- How can I verify
that the money raise as a result of my purchase has gone to my cause?
The funds that you have generated for
your cause are automatically recorded and sent to your cause. Participating
causes have access to their own "Your Account" feature, which also
lists the transactions from all their supporters. Each cause has
an administrator who closely monitors monthly transactions and accounts
for money received.
- What do I do if
a purchase that I have made does not appear in my transaction report
in "Your Account"?
There are a few reasons why a transaction
may not appear in your account.
Please allow sufficient time for the
item to appear in your account. The reporting generally runs approximately
one month behind purchases. If after six weeks your item still does
not appear in your account we would like to be informed. Email your
request to support@cangive.ca.
If your computer is not set to accept cookies, your purchase may
not support your selected cause. Some
merchants use cookies to identify that you linked to their site
from Cangive and therefore wish to support a Canadian charity with
your purchase. Please enable
your cookies to ensure your purchases qualify to benefit a cause.

When does my cause
actually receive the money I helped raise when shopping through Cangive.ca?
We generally mail cheques to causes within
60 days of the end of the quarter in which the transaction occurred.
This allows for processing time as well as sufficient time to clear
the allowed duration for returned orders.
- Can I change my
cause selection?
Yes. You can change your cause selection
at any time. If you are a member and wish to change the cause you
support you can go into 'Your Account' and update your profile to
include a different cause. If your shop as a guest, you can simply
select a different cause after you click on 'Shop as a guest'. Funds
raised will benefit your new cause selection from the time you make
the change, as earnings are not retroactive.
- Can I support more
than one cause?
No, you cannot support more than one
cause unless you choose to support the Cangive Fund, which is divided
among several causes. You can also change your cause selection when
you like as indicated in question 12.
- What can I do if
I cannot find the cause that I want to support?
There are many causes in Canada. It is
possible that your cause has not yet registered with Cangive.ca.
We suggest that you temporarily select one of our other causes and
contact your preferred cause to encourage them to participate in
our program.
- Do I always have
to start my shopping at Cangive.ca in order have each purchase support
my cause?
Yes. In order for your cause to benefit
from your purchases, your shopping must originate at Cangive.ca.
Otherwise, merchants listed have no method of knowing your order
is associated with Cangive.ca. You must link to the merchant from
our shopping portal. If you do not start your shopping at Cangive.ca
we will be unable to track your shopping activity and can not credit
your cause.
- As a member, can
I shop from another computer and still have the transaction recorded
in my account?
Yes. If you sign in you can shop from
any computer.
- Can I get a tax
receipt for the purchases that I make through Cangive.ca?
Not at this time.
- Can I return an
order if I am not satisfied with?
Each of our partner merchants describes
their return policy on their web pages. Please visit their web site
for details on returning items. In the interest of having the best
possible vendors in our shopping mall, we encourage you to inform
Cangive.ca if a merchant does not honour their return policy.
- If I return an
order, do the funds raised get subtracted from my cause's earnings?
Yes. Causes do not benefit from returned
orders.
- Can I have an order
delivered to another address?
Yes. Typically you will enter the shipping
information in the "Ship To" section of the merchants order page.
We recommend you visit the merchant's site to learn more about their
shipping policy.
